I think that there is a relationship between MODx and NING.

If you use NING as a tool from MODx, you would be satisfiy some requirements of tourism application

What is your opinion and do you have have some experience using some social network tool as tool from MODx?

I have no familiarity with NING, but people should be aware that MODx is a free, open-source project and NING is not.

"Currently, Ning has two primary business models. One allows users to create a network for free, in exchange for the network hosting ads that Ning supplies. The other, their "Ning for Business" option, offers users a network where they control the ad content (or lack thereof), in exchange for a monthly fee. A few other premium services such as extra storage and bandwidth and non-Ning URLs are also available for additional monthly fee." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ning)

If you mean by "there is a relationship between MODx and NING" that it would be possible to use MODx and NING on the same web site, you’re right. It’s technically possible and no one would try to stop you.

If you mean that there is a relationship between the organizations that produce the two software systems, you’re definitely wrong.

About the only possible relationship I can find is that you can "skin" it so it can be made to resemble your MODx site, and you can use some of the "widgets" you create in Ning in another site (for example, embedded videos). It’s really not much more than a complex Facebook.

          Fran,

see my points in your other original post.

Also, S usan is exactly right when she says Ning is a complex version of Facebook.

I do have some experience using Ning, but if you want to know more about Ning then you should post in the Ning Forums. They are just as active and helpful as the Modx forums. smiley
