    Hi there.
Almost all the Modx website i work has been hacked this last 3 days.
I´m have some websites that still don´t has been hacked, i have the core folder one level up off the root, and i have change connections folder name. I give up using modx some time ago for one reason: it´s a complete pain to update, i have to backup everyting, upload the new version, uncompress, merge, etc etc.

Now i have this emergecy and i can´t update to lastest version, because i upload the last version, uncompress, merge, and when i go to setup it doesn´t recognize my installation, and will probaby create a new empty database and so on.

So, my question is: what are the steps to update to latest version in this case? ( core one level up, changed connections and manager folder names).

PS: i have another website without this changes and modx doesn´t recognize ( and don´t give me the option to UPDATE on the setup ).

    Thank you!

If you are able to restore backups from before the hack you can use this extra to handle the upgrade process for you. https://modx.com/extras/package/upgrademodx
It can cope with moved/renamed core folders. You will need to enter the path to the core folder during the upgrade process.
