This is now my third site with modx. Somethings i have down, others i have still not made the connection yet with. Currently on my first attempt at a ecommerce store. Currently using foxycart, and foxy inventory, have maxi gallery installed and just started playing around with it.
In knowing my client, it needs to be really simple for him to edit product details(product code, weight, cost, description ect) and upload the image.
though i think that just having to log into the manager and create a new product page in the correct page, and fill in the TV’s may be to much for him.
Is there a way to make a page in which he can enter in all the details for the TV’s, and select the image he wants to upload. and then when he clicks submit. a new product page is created using the entered TV’s. Is this possible? or easier just to make a good tutorial/screen cast for him to follow every time he wants to add a product?
Even if he can just create a new page and edit the TV"s How can i get the category page to refresh on the fly with the new product pages?
This part i’m a bit lost on as well, on how to implement and have ease of for the clients part.
As the site needs to auto thumbnail products from the images he uploads, since resizing an image is beyond his skills, and to much work for the number of products
sitemap as follow
Products (content area to list product catagories)
-catagory1 (show an all products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
-catagor2 (show an all products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
-catagory3 (lists all subcategories, and possibly some products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
--subcatagory (show an all products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
--subcatagory (show an all products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
-catagory4 (show an all products with image and short description and price in thumbnail type veiw)
if you click on the thumbnail veiw of the product in the category page, or sub category page it will load up the product page ready for you to order the product.
i notice maxi gallery does something similar to this for the images you upload with description and title... Though i dont know how to pass the TV’s and foxycart stuff into the maxi gallery pages. Think this would require to much hacking around, which seems like a daunting task to me.
The thought i have is to pass the TV’s from the product pages back up to the the category page. then use some custom outputting of maxi gallery, or use phpthumb or something else? to then display the products thumbnail, cost and description/title to the categories page.
Is this possible to do, passing TV’s?
I’m at a blank at how to implement what needs to be done.... hope someone can offer some help. Thanks.
