    Hello.

I didn’t find this in the forums, so I ask myself.

In the manager (different versions, from 0.9.5 up to 0.9.6.3rc2), the document ordering in the document tree is somewhat weird.

I have several MODx installations in use and on most installations it looks like that docs with children are shown before any docs without children (in the same branch), despite of the menu index.

I have some problems explaining myself, so I give an example:

    main1
    main2
    sub1
    sub2
    sub2.1
    sub2.2
    sub3
    main3

    is shown as

    main2
    sub2
    sub2.1
    sub2.2
    sub1
    sub3
    main1
    main3

in the manager. This is a little bit confusing. And, what is even more confusing, I think (but I’m not absolutely sure, maybe it is illusion or hallucination) that I have one or more installations where the output in the manager is correct, meaning single documents and those with children are sorted correctly by their menu index.

    Has anyone noticed this too?

    Greetings
    Martin

You can use the Doc Manager module to re-order it as you like.
I know and I did that already, the menu indexes are all as i want them, but the output is wrong.

But maybe this is just a case of the dreaded mysql 5.0.51 bug, where certain ordering/grouping queries were very buggy. Try updating mysql to 5.0.67.
No, in this special case, it is MySQL 4.0.27.

That’s right. But, the installer tells me the MySQL version, it is 4.0.27, and the installer says "OK".

Now, I have setup two new websites. Both with 4.0.27 (because the only alternative on that server is 5.0.51). And on these two fresh installtions, my tree output in the manager is correct. The directoryies with sub documents are sorted by menu index, and the output is as I expected.
