Perhaps a redundant question but I was wondering what the purpose was of the option to set a parent user group? Does it only serve the purpose of grouping multiple groups under one banner or can it be used to inherit policies, access permissions or anything else?

    Thanks,

I've never tested it, but I think the permissions are inherited. I could be wrong.

Doesn't look like anything gets inherited but I realised about 30 minutes after posting that it could actually be useful for the user select TV if you wanted to grab a collection of company department teams from a particular company, for example. So I guess essentially yeah just grouping but also selective selecting.

Would be interested to know if anyone else has any use cases for it though.
