Problems with VeriWord

I am attempting to get CAPTCHA working with my eForms plugin. For some reason, the image does not appear in the form. When I enter the URL into my browser directly, like this:

I get a screen full of gibberish, like this:

i have verified that GD is enabled and working, but the images do not display. I have also updated my veriword.php and noise subfolder with the latest download from the MODx site, which mad no difference. What else can I try?

The fact that going directly to that URL produces gibberish (it does for me too and the particular gibberish looks like a jpeg file rendered as text) suggests that either GD or FreeType is missing, corrupted, or improperly configured at your host.

The odds that the problem is in the Veriword code are close to zero.
