Limit manager access to a child page only

This is referring to the manager only. The front-end of the website is 100% public.

I need one user to only have access to edit a single page. This page (Career Opportunities) is a child page of the parent (About Us). I have created two user groups, one for managers that contains all pages, and one for this user, which only has the child page I want them to edit.

When only the child page is drug into the user group it does not show up for that user. If I drag the parent page into the resource group instead, About us and all it's children do show up for them, but I don't want them to have access to all those other pages.

Is there a way to give them access to just this one single child page?

can't you give them the url to update this page?
you could also create a dashboard - widget, which links to that page.

They need to have access to edit the page for the URL to work, so this does not solve the problem. With a direct link to edit the resource ie: /manager/?a=resource/update&id=35 they just get an error saying Resource with ID 35 not found.

Are you suggesting they have access to the parent page, but for that user group the resource tree is hidden, so the only way they can get to it is by one of the quick buttons? I still don't see that as an option as it is much too easy for them to simply change the page ID in the url to get to other pages.

I'm surprised there is not an easier way to grant access to a single page regardless of where it is nested in the tree.

You should be able to drag the single resource that you want them to be able to change into your allowed resource group. They can then access the page directly via the url or in a custom menu or quickstarbuttons as Bruno suggested. The page won't show up in the tree though because they don't have access to the parent.

Hmm, for some reason that does not work. I have only the single resource in their resource group. When logged in as a member of that resource group and going to the direct URL, I just get an error saying that resource is not found. I must be missing something.

Here's another quirk. I have all the pages placed into a manager group. But when I drag that single child page into the limited resource group it removes it from being seen in the group that should have access to everything...

Just to confirm you're navigating to the ID of the page via something like

manager/?a=resource/update&id=50

And that the usergroup has mgr context access

Yes, that is correct. As soon as I add the parent page back, the direct URL works fine.

I seem to be able to solve this specific issue but logging into the main admin account, going to that specific page and under the resource group I can check that it belongs to both groups. Strange process but I guess it works.
