Is there a way to restrict the number of lines that ditto will show when pulling up info from a field eg [+introtext+]

You can use the [+summary+] placeholder instead, and restrict the amount of content pulled using:
&truncSplit
&truncAt
etc. You can specify a splitter to use and drop it into the document. I like doing it this way as at least then you have control over the content, and you can ensure the summary makes sense! U need to add summary as an extender btw in the snippet call.
