Answered 500 error on manager login

Hey,

Bit of a silly one but I've somehow managed to lock myself out of the manager when editing ACL's. All other users can log into the manager fine but when the admin user tries to log in I'm getting a 500 internal server error. Oddly I wasn't touching anything in the ACLs related to the admin policy, usergroup or anything else. I was however trying to update a dashboard button but one of them kept returning an error so I removed the button all together just before I got locked out.

Any ideas on how I can recover?

All others accounts to the manager are pretty locked down and I'm currently at a clients office using a restricted proxy so I can't access cpanel or ftp BUT I did manage to clear the cache using a direct url but it didn't work unfortunately.

However although I'm getting a 500 error when logging in I am still logged in and I can access other pages in the manager - also the error log. It certainly looks like an issue with quick start buttons.

I was a little premature flagging an answer that reinstalling quick start buttons solves the issue. It does...but it returns shortly after.

Am I right in thinking you are the only admin user and as such the only person who sees this particular button?

I think you said you could access manager pages other than the dashboard?

If so are you able to create another admin user via:

domain.com/manager/?a=security/user

That's the thing there are only two sets of buttons which are appointed to two different user groups the admin doesn't have any specific buttons attached. I just tried creating a new admin user though and its the same issue for that user. I've also just removed all sets of buttons and the issue still occurs. I also cleared the cahce via the file manager and manager menu to no avail. Seems like maybe there's a phantom database entry for the one set of button that wasn't letting me update it?

Could you try optimising or repairing the database table or perhaps just the relevant row?

After a backup of course!

LK, my general rule is, "always add the admin to all user groups as soon as they're created."
