I have just had a very interesting afternoon installing a new site!
I have done heaps of MODx installs with absolutely no problems - I could probably do them in my sleep! But today I was stumped!

I normally use Safari with no problems either, even editing with TinyMC works fine.

But today wen I installed a site and went in to put a new template in I was greeted with "Oops, something went terribly wrong... No database record has been found for this template. Aborting." - Nice!!!
So I thought hmm maybe something happen with the structure when the MySQL tables were made so I ran the install again - same problem. So I thought maybe there was a corruption in the files somewhere so I totally dumped the site and started again - installed as usual but got the same error when trying to edit or create a template.
I didn’t think at that time to try a different browser because I have never had any issues with using Safari, so no reason to suspect that.
But I was getting so frustrated that I gave it a rest and went to work on another site that is being developed and I got the exact same error!!!
Then it started to all click - I tried FireFox and there were no problems at all.

I had run a software update a few days back that updated Safari to 3.1.2 and this is the only thing I can put it down to.

Someone out there may have an idea of why this has happened (what would cause that error), but I guess I will just have to use FF for a while which is fine - as long as it’s not exploder I don’t care!! wink

    cheers.

Odd, I normally use FF with a couple of interesting extensions, but I just checked with Safari, and it’s working fine for me.

That is strange. I just tested a series of sites in Safari 312 and all worked fine including TinyMCE. However I did not test the install process itself. Is this where you had the problems? What version are you installing?

The 0962 release has some modifications to the installer but it is only available via svn at the moment.

What exactly do you mean by "put in a new template"? Creating a new template? Setting it as the default template in the configuration? Setting a document to use the new template?

right! thanks all for your input.

I don’t have an issue using FF, I just thought it really odd that one day it works fine in Safari and then the next it didn’t!

                thanks.

                  OK Safari has struck again!

This time my issue is that in safari all content pages are displaying the content from id=1 but then when I look at the site in FF it is perfect!

                  Any ideas on that one!

                  modx v 9.6.1
                  safari 3.1.2

                  cheers,

                  Paul.
