I want to use MODX Revo to create a site for an organisation that has 800+ members in 80+ groups but about 10% of those members do not now have email addresses and there is no way I can force them to get one.

I will need to let all members use the web context to see certain pages regardless of whether or not they have an email address. Therefore, members of the organisation must be able to log in so that they can access more pages than casual visitors to the website.

I have seen suggestions about using dummy email addresses but feel that this approach could be very cumbersome, as I would have to keep track of all the dummy email addresses in use so that new members joining without an email address could be allocated a new dummy.

I also have another, related, problem in that many couples use the same email address for both partners and, again, there is no way I can force them to use different addresses.

I would be very grateful for suggestions on how I can create users who do not have email addresses or who have duplicates.

In Settings, under Core / Authentication and Security there is an option to allow duplicate email addresses.

If you have 'duplicates allowed' it means you cater for your members who are sharing email addresses and at the same time it allows you to use just one email address for all the users who do not have an email address at all, which makes managing the situation much easier.

        Brilliant! Thank you very much.
