    Hello everyone

I have seen this topic come up quite a few times. I have done some searching but have come up with nothing for my specific problem.

I have the dreadful and frustrating 500 Internal Server Error.

    My provider: www.webhostingbuzz.com
    Apache version: 2.0.63
    PHP version: 5.2.6
    MySQL version: 4.1.22-standard-log
    Operating system: Linux

I have tried to install and reinstall modx several times thinking it was a bad download, but i’ve had the same result each time. I have check the permissions on each file per the http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Installation_Guide" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">wiki - http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Installation_Guide. I have contacted my web host and found that i’m running PHP is running as suphp and not as a service or via suExe . I’m Lost on what else i could do to fix this.

Any and all input is very welcomed.

If you have access to the Apache error_logs, it can possibly help identify the problem. Did you by chance rename ht.access to .htaccess while enabling friendly URLs? If so, try removing that file and see if the error goes away...

I know with one of my hosts the two common causes of 500 errors are permission and/or htaccess issues.

Try OpenGeeks suggestion first if that dosn’t work try checking that all files are 644 and folders 755.

            Hello,

The 2nd line indicates a permission issue so make sure your permissions are correct. I know with my host folders are 755 and files 644 anything more and you have problems. It looks like you host is the same and likely uses the same permission. Fix the permission and you should be good to go.

OK MOST of it is solved now. It ended up being the ROOT permission on my modx dictionary

Now i’m on to setting everything up.  After i get all the correct info for the mySQL and everything is OK for the setup i put in the CORRECT info ( i check and redid the processs 3 times) I’m getting this error.

              now i’m just baffled.
              Any Ideas?

Maybe a caching issue with your browser?

Once again it appears to be a permission issue to me as that popup seams to be indicating 500 error.

Make sure you check ALL files and folders inside your public_html folder. Bunk58’s idea might also work so give that a try first, but I still suspect permission. Oh, you can check your error log again to confirm.
