using base tag breaks anchors?

Im using friendly urls and I’ve got the recommended base tag in the head of my document eg
<base href="[(site_url)]"></base>

..the problem is when a content editor places a fragment identifier, eg <a id="#someanchor"> further down in the content, the link in the page then resolves to:
http://domain.com/#someanchor
whereas it should be
http://domain.com/page/here#someanchor

any ideas on how to get round this?

There is a plugin here that solves the problem.

or you can do [~[id]~]#anchorname

@vait: that works - but not for the end-user of the system who knows nothing about pseudocode or modx tags, and does not want to worry about such things!

@bunk58: awesome! perfect! did i ever tell you, you’re my hero? (sorry bad song, i know)

Love the description of the end user
