    Hi Peeps,

Just a quick one (i hope). I am running a development IIS Server and am trying to implement MODX On it. Other than the hassle of getting PHP and MySQL installed and running properly i now have a problem in that when trying to install modx it either goes into a horrible loop or redirects me to a url other than where the install is located.

I am trying to access modx on http://servername:8801/cms-test/
Install folder obviously being one beneath that.

Is there anything that i am missing or should i be looking somewhere specific.

I did try removing the redirect code but that made it worse.

I suppose i should know whether i should bother or just create a host header entry and get some DNS going.

    Cheers

    Al

      Hi Alan,

What error message do you get?

Also what IIS version are you using?

I would recommened instead of using a port number for the site that you create a virtual folder site in IIS i.e yourservername/virtualfoldername or even a sub folder site which might be even easier.

lets say your server / computer name is called "SERVER1" and in your browser you can visit http://SERVER1 and it loads the default site.

Now in IIS create a new site but call this modxtest.server1

Now edit your hosts file on your PC located in %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

add at the bottom of this file

      127.0.0.1 modxtest.server1

Now in your browser you should be able to navigate to http://modxtest.server1

        Aaron,

I am using IIS 6, on Server 2003 which has been updated to the full extent of MS Patches.

I have considered this route, but on the network where i am this becomes a bit complicated as many people will be developing from the site at one time, and i have not been given the approval for a internal DNS Entry to be made (when i do however all will be good).

currently there is a site running on port 80 and i cannot develop along side that. The server is shared by 4 teams so alot gets done.

I dont get an error, just the modx installer redirects me from: http://myserver:8801/cms-test/install/ to: http://myserver/cms-test/install/

And if i change the default mention of Port 80 in the installer to 8801 it then goes into a constant loop.

        Any Ideas?

        Cheers

        Alan

          UPDATE:

I seemed to have solved it!!

After checking my PHP.Ini file and re-vamping my settings i no longer got into the silly loop. That said it did try to redirect me still to port 80. To rectify this there are a couple of mentions with redirects involved in the Install.php file in the Install DIR Just modify these to support the port number that you are using.

          Cheers
