GoRevo Package question about initial setup ?

Hi there have a site which I've just upgraded to Evo 1.2.1 but EvoGallery is not working and it's an inherent part of the site (fashion agents site) so have been thinking of upgrading to Revo and using MoreGallery.

Have read through the GoRevo documentation and one thing I'm not too sure about and that is setting a REVO install up on the same domain / file structure as where the Evo one is - what's / where is the best way to set up the Revo install on the same domain so as not to conflict with the existing assets and manager Dir's

So am I right in that you set Revo up in a separate dir

You definitely don't want Evo and Revo in the same directory, and I would put them in separate DBs as well.

If you're pretty sure you're converting to Revo, I'd move the Evo install to a subdirectory. Once Evo is working there, delete the Evo files and directories in public_html and install Revo there. I think that will make GoRevo easier to use and reduce the chance of errors.

If you're less sure about converting to Revo, you could do it the other way around and just install Revo in the subdirectory. Once it's working well, you could remove all Evo files and directories, and move the Revo site to public_html (or just leave it in the subdirectory).

Back up the Evo site well (both files and DB) to another location before doing anything else.

In advance of doing it for real (I have quite a few sites to GoRevo if this works well) I've set up a demo domain http://mysendoff.co.uk/ running Evo 1.3.4 with the dir structure
/public_html/
assets
manager
vendor
index.php

I've then installed Revo 2.5.8 in a Dir in /public_html/
so now have
assets
manager
revo (revo install)
vendor
index.php

So Revo install http://mysendoff.co.uk/revo/ just clean page as per your instructions

So I'm ready to do a dummy run with GoRevo can I use the same license for the dummy test run in advance of doing it for real so if all goes well should see the Evo demo site working in Revo?

Sure.

Downloaded package as per instructions and all very clear.

Every thing went really well until I hit the submit button at the end of the migration form and received the error below which I presume is down to this error in EVO Manager
Configuration warning: 'GD and/or Zip PHP extensions not found' so now on to hosting Co

Fatal error: Class 'ZipArchive' not found in /home/mysendoff/public_html/gorevo/gorevoexport.class.php on line 253

First attempt at transfer was not too bad, and would seem that all the content was imported and exported.

Obviously taking the EVO example site would mean to install many packages and the first couple of actual sites I want to transfer are pretty simple (ditto and eform).

A few questions - after the import export.

In the Revo gorevo/files there is an assets.zip does that need to be extracted

Where I'm having an issue after deleting the EVO dirs and copying the Revo dirs to /public_html/

having changed paths in config.core.php

and then in core/config/config.inc.php and other configs is that I now get this on trying to access manager

So reading through your instructions again looking the source code on the home page I must have missed the option of changing the base_path or something as all the links are showing

So quite prepared to do another clean install of both Evo and Revo to have another go at migrating an Evo site to to Revo rather than on a live site and I think the only real issue is getting the dir structure right in order to delete the original EVO dirs in publi_html which will be what I'll have to do on live sites.

Did you change all three config.core.php files (root, manager, connectors directories)?

Make sure your base href looks like this (with the exclamation point) in all templates:



Double-check the paths and URLs in config.inc.php, especially the connectors path.

When you're sure everything is good, run setup again in the Revo site, then manually delete all files in the core/cache directory. When moving a site on the same server, leftover browser cache files *and cookies* can sometimes cause trouble.

The assets .zip file doesn't need to be extracted. GoRevo will put it in the evo.zip file as is, and it should be extracted and unzipped correctly during the import to the Revo site.
