Cannot Login to Manager

Hi,

I can't login to my Manager. It displays the following error:

"The username or password you entered is incorrect. Please check the username, re-type the password, and try again."

I also tried "Forgot your login", where I then get this error:

"User not found with that email or username. Please try again."

I then tried resetting password using this query:



Also checked that the ID of the admin user and the internalKey field of the first record in the modx_user_attributes table matches. And that admin is the first record in both the modx_users and modx_user_attributes tables.

One possible cause of that is losing the session. Any change in the domain will do this. For example, if the Login page is a WWW page and the user gets switched to a non-WWW page, the session will be lost and the user won't be logged in. Make sure you've uncommented one (but not both) of the sections in .htaccess that forces WWW or non-WWW URLs.

You could also try repairing the tables in the DB and then deleting all files in the core/cache directory. [ed. note: BobRay last edited this post 8 years, 11 months ago.]

Thanks Bob. Tried implementing your suggestions but all to no avail.

I set-up a new install on a subdomain, migrated necessary files and imported the database (omitted modx_session table). I was able to then reset password via login screen.

It's possible that manually deleting all files in the core/cache directory would have helped. I should have suggested that.

Hopefully, it won't happen again.

If you're using an older version of MODX, be sure to upgrade. Don't skip over any major versions (3.0, 4.0, 5.0) in the process. The more recent versions are more secure, and cache corruption is much less common.
