I need to allow a download of trial versions for an application from a website I'm managing.
There are a few versions of the file, and an email confirmation is required.
My idea is to create a FormIt for taking email details and OS type from the user.
Clicking SEND will export the details as CSV for me to follow up - and a pre-generated email to the user with a link to DL.
I guess I should host the files not on a shared hosting for better DL speed, and not reach the bandwidth limit.
The site is hosted on siteground. The best solution will allow me to know who actually downloaded the file and not only clicked on the form.
My questions:
- Is FormIt the best solution or is there something dedicated to such a task?
- How can I track who actually downloaded the file from the link automatically sent? Does MODX have some solution for this? Or an integration to an external service?
- If an integration does not exist, can formit somehow autogenerate the link with some identifier to follow up?
- How to handle the risk of a FormIt email reaching SPAM?
