Vanilla Porter for Discuss ( Modx )

Regarding Discuss, I would have preferred to stay with a built in forum for Modx.
But sadly, it is not maintained anymore, not compatible with php7... and lacks lots and lots of features ( gamification, badges, etc ).

Funny thing is that I have created a bootstrap theme from scratch... took me hours... but I guess that's life. I wanted to release it on Gitub, but I don't see the point now.


Regarding Vanilla Porter, the script is here:

It works amazingly but... You'll have to manually create users role and reassign them.

FYI, it is not compatible with php7 ( Just like Discuss )

I would like to implement your bootstrap theme for Discuss this winter, when I have a bit more time, if you decide to release it.

You are certainly right about all the little bells and whistles missing from Discuss, and they are important. I have made some of those from scratch, they turned out not to be hard, but its easier when there is a module you can install and get working quickly, or however it works over there

Did you look into Vanilla roles? Why are the two incompatible, do you know? That seemed strange to me

I'm running Discuss with php 7.1. I confirm it's not compatible with 7.0.

Well, if we can implement my theme to the official plugin, plus your script... maybe we can revive discuss from the dead... who knows
