This is my first post here and I came across MODx and its flexibility which made me consider it to develop a web application. Now after reading through the documentation I’d like to know which plugins,modules/snippets do you guys suggest for me to use in this project. Actually I’m not even sure if MODx will be the best to use for this. Any information to lead me in the right direction is greatly appreciated
Items:
The application will be community based where users can submit Items (with photos) to be posted. The goal of the site is to build content around items that are posted. There should be a dedicated page for users to post items without logging in as manager. These items can then be viewed, commented on, rated (1-5 stars), and added to wishlist. The item page will contain up to 5 item images, item details, ratings, and comments.
Users:
Each user will have a profile page where their latest activity is summarized (comments, ratings, wishlist). Each user can also add another user as a "fan/friend" and this will also be listed in the profile. With this, the page will also have something like a public shout/comment box as well as a private messaging feature to other users.
Homepage:
The homepage will contain a grid of images of the most discussed/highest rated items layed out in split pagination. And like the user page, will also have sections on recent community activity.
Back end:
The user will have a facility to manage all his posted items with basic inventory control like (stocks left) and view the users who commented, rated and viewed the item.
Hope you can help me with regards to whether I should consider MODx for this as well as which components to use.
