My apologies if you already know this, but is it possible that you're confusing the publishedon and pub_date fields? It's a common mistake. The pub_date field holds the future date when the resource should be published. The publishedon field holds the date that the resource was actually published. It doesn't really make sense for an unpublished resource to have a publishedon date, or for a resource with a publishedon date to be unpublished.

I know the difference, Bob. I was trying to import already existing news from the year 2013 (now is year 2017).

Ok, what is a good method for getting the current IDs set? Most of the time this use case is importing cross sites or scraping from other systems.
We really need a general use importer.

Are you talking about Resource IDs when importing Resources into an empty site? It might not be that difficult to modify ImportX to preserve them (assuming that it doesn't have that option already).

Not sure I understand the question but when you import ids are added incrementally to the last ID set, just as when creating new resources manually. Find the last ID you have in mode and then in your csv create a new column for ID enter the number and then just apply it down the column to increment per row. Imports then has an update function which. You can use to update resources based on id

There may be other things in the import that refer to the Resource IDs (like MODX link tags do), or the user ID of the creator and/or editor (or not). If you import an Evo site, for example, all the IDs need to be preserved.
