I'm making a site where all my Templates, Chunks and Snippets are static files.
I noticed that when I update a Chunk's static file, the content within Manager's GUI also updates too. This is pretty handy for making changes on the fly if I'm away from my PC with all the original static files on it - I can make the changes and then pull them down and keep going when I'm back home again.
However, Templates don't seem to do this. If I make changes to a static file and then examine that file on the Manager the changes are not reflected in the text-area. Clearing cache has no affect.
Does anyone know of a way to sync these up?

I use static files for all my snippets and templates, and it works fine. You're sure you've got the right path to the MODX template file location on the server in your local editor? If your chunks are updating but not templates, I'm not sure what else the problem could be. Maybe check on the server to see if your template files are getting saved from your local editor to a different location than what you have set for each template in MODX? Also, check the date updated for the template files on the server to see if the date has changed, and also maybe check the file permissions on those files on the server. Are the files for your templates in the same or a different folder than the chunks and snippets?
