Answered Media Browser: Multiple File Selection

    Hi Everybody

    I'm sorry for bloating up the Forums, but I couldn't find any information regarding my topic.
    We are using MODx in conjunction with Contentblocks, which works really great, but has one (imo) big downside:

    Modx's Media Browser doesn't let you select multiple files!

    Which isn't a big problem per se, but is a very noticable disadvantage when dealing with galleries and not being able to select all the wanted images with visiting the MediaBrowser once.

    Now to my question:
    Why is this "basic" function missing from the default installation and would it be difficult to develop?

      Agreed its a missing functionality that has caused a few hair ripping moments. However, if you're dealing with galleries the moregallery extra from modmore https://www.modmore.com/moregallery/?via=1346 does support drag and drop of multiple files.

        Indeed, the media browser doesn't let you select multiple files, that's not something we've found a solution for in ContentBlocks yet. When the media browser is enhanced to support multiple files, we'll support that in ContentBlocks as well. I'm not sure how much effort it would be to add that to MODX, though the Eureka media browser we have (well, JP has) developed alongside Redactor 3 will support multiple selections, so when that becomes more widely available we might support that in ContentBlocks as well.

        Galleries in ContentBlocks (and indeed also in MoreGallery) you can do multiple uploads at once (both through drag and drop and the upload dialog), with the obvious downside that existing images will be duplicated because you re-upload them.

          Such a shame, I guess we'll have to wait for the Eureka media browser then smiley.

            Many MODXers are already using elFinder.
            Those don't have to wait, they have been enjoying multi-select since the invention of butter.

              Not sure what you mean here. Currently, using the MODX media browser, if you upload an image that has the same name as one on the server, the one on the server gets replaced, not duplicated.
