Have you tried temporarily removing the data-value="[[+contactPerson]]" just to rule it out as a possible source of the problem? I think this is the most likely culprit.

I'm not sure if the code you have posted shows everything as it is on your form? The code for the button does not appear to have anything functional in it?
It should read something like this...
<input type="submit" name="login-updprof-btn" value="[[!%login.update_profile]]" />

+1 for Andy's post just above.
The snippet won't recognize a submission unless these criteria are met:
1. $_POST['login-updprof-btn'] is set
2. It equals $modx->lexicon('login.update_profile')
Here's the code that checks:
$submission = isset($_POST['login-updprof-btn']) && ($_POST['login-updprof-btn'] == $modx->lexicon('login.update_profile'));

I tried it to use the <button name="login-updprof-btn">[[!%login.update_profile]]</button>
never thought that it will be checked. Sorry for my stupidness!
