    Hi colleagues,

I am trying to install MODx on a shared hosting. PHP version is 5.6 and the PDO driver is enabled. This error keeps popping up. Also As you see in the screenshots, in the first one it checks the DB and it can connect OK but in the second one it says it can't connect, but "modx will create a DB" And when I click next this error pops up:

Fatal error: Class 'modAccessibleObject' not found

Please help! I am searching the forum and everyone suggests you re-upload the MODx package and try the installation again. I tried that 3 times and still no luck!
    Thank you in advance!

The first message just says the MODX can connect to the DB server. At that point, it hasn't tried to connect to the database itself. On many hosts, MODX won't be allowed to actually create the database and assign a user to it.

In those cases, you need to create the empty DB yourself and create a DB user who has full rights to the DB -- then run setup. Make a note of the final user and database name when you're creating the DB because hosts will often add a prefix so the name is different from what you entered.

BTW, utf8 / utf8_general_ci is the recommended charset/collation for MODX. I always create the DB before running Setup just to make sure those settings are used rather then MySQL's dumb defaults.

All hail sensei Bob! You were absolutely right! Turned out, I had created a DB user but I didn't add privileges to it, haven't even had added the user to the DB,lol, so Modx was unable to add any tables, obviously! Thank you so much! I created granted the user full privileges and added it to the DB and the installation succeeded! [ed. note: stefany last edited this post 9 years, 3 months ago.]
