Answered StercSeoSiteMap - XML problem

    Hi there,

    I am using Sterc SEO Sitemap Snippet to create my XML sitemap.
    the snippet is simply:

    [[!StercSeoSiteMap]]

    But when I view this in a browser under the url https://www.domain.co.uk/sitemap.xml, I get the following message in safari at the top:

    This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

    The source code looks like this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
<url>
    <loc>https://www.domain.co.uk/</loc>
    <lastmod>2017-06-16T16:24:20+00:00</lastmod>
    <changefreq>weekly</changefreq>
    <priority>0.5</priority>
</url><url>
    <loc>https://www.domain.co.uk/about-us/</loc>

etc etc...


    I have the template of the resource set to empty, and I have the Content Type set as XML.

    Any ideas? Is this something I should fix, or just ignore?

      It's completely normal but it is worth mentioning this is just a site map really to be used by SERPs and not users. You can follow the instructions here to submit your site map to Google https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/183668?hl=en

      For an actual sitemap page that sits on your front end for users to use you could use another extra or just wayfinder or pdotools [ed. note: lkfranklin last edited this post 9 years, 3 months ago.]

        Great - thanks for confirming. Yes totally understand it's just for SERPS - that's all I'm after.
        I have submitted to Google and Bing - just waiting for it to index and wanted to make sure the sitemap was structured OK. Thanks for the confirmation!
