MODx used to update one html site

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am investigating if I update my HTML web site with MODx.

The topic of my web site to update is Tourism, and I wish to show attractive tourism as national geographic dynamic web site show the information.

Would you please recommend MODx as the best tool of develop to update my web site?

I highly recommend it! (but I’m biased )

The flexibility in how to solve my tasks and the easiness in templating the hole thing made me stop searching for another CMS or CMF for my sites. For me and my way of making websites, MODx is the only one. Good luck with yours.

What plan do you recommend to learn MODx?
Do you know what is the cms used in national geographic web site?
Have you used the photo galleries tools used in national geofraphic web site from MODx?

I recommend doing two installs, one with the standard install and one that installs the pre-built content. This will allow you to see how specific content and tweaks (like blogs and comments) are done.

I’d then go through the wiki site and look at each of the main snippets like Ditto, Jot, NewsListing, etc and read up on their documentation and their parameters. Play with those on the pre-built install and then try to mimic the setup on the basic install.

That’s what I did/do at least. It really helped me learn the system (which isn’t hard at all but like anything, takes a bit to see things from the right perspective). I’m sure others have their preferred learning method.

I want to update my html web site using tools to manage and show photos, videos and dynamical pages.

I am been visiting some MODx web sites, but I have not found examples with this characteristics.

National Geographic web site, I believe is a good example regard I want.

Yeah, I know of a bank here locally that paid about $300k USD for a custom CMS. I might make more than that in 10 years, but that’s still A LOT of money!

Okay, I agree that I will need much money to achieve to do something as National Geographic,
but what kind of MODx tools can give me some results to achieve one dynamical site to show maps, photos and programe one tool that the user can collect information to create his or her own specific tour, for example, kayac tour in cost, andes or jungle alternatives?
