    hello,
i’m wanting to create a page for a website that looks like http://cheerytomato.com/outbackstores/staff_list_new.html where the folks who’ll look after the site can add/edit staff members as necessary. i can figure out how to do this if it was just single rows, but having 3 people in a row i’m not sure how to do... i’m thinking i’d use ditto and have [hidden] subpages off this section, each page relating to one person? not sure how i can tell it to go down to the next row once 3 people have been entered.

or maybe could each row be a chunk with 3 image variables and 3 heading variables? that’s so messy though, esp if they want to delete one person and shuffle the others up. any help would be great, thanks!

      hi,

if you float those elements to the left, the fourth element (if it doesn’t fit in the row ) will start below in a new line...

              you’re welcome smiley

by the way, don’t forget to add "display:inline;" to the floated element, otherwise ie6 will double your margins.

got it! i have a new template at http://cheerytomato.com/outbackstores/staff_list_new2.html which leads to my next [hopefully last!] question, of is there a way that i can set this up so that the bottom lines all lines up, regardless of how many lines of info there are about the person? i could set a height only maybe there’s a better way? really appreciate the help grin

here’s the problem and maybe a fix for it smiley

                  http://www.ruzee.com/blog/2007/05/align-list-items-horizontally-with-css/
                  or
                  http://gtwebdev.com/workshop/layout/inline-block-gallery.php

                  j

                  it doesn’t validate css-wise though..anybody with a better solution?

Just force the container to have a fixed height. Make the fixed height longer than the number of max lines and use Ditto params (if that is what you are using) to limit the output). I tried it with 200px and it works. I’d also not use 33% width as your width as this may be calculated different in different browsers. I’d take the actual width of the container and divide by 3 and use a px width.

                    Cheers,

                    Jay

gold and gold. thank you both so much. i checked out those links sharkbait, that ruzee one... wowsers... would be a definite cut and paste going on there. think i’ll stick with a fixed height for the moment, then slowly build up the skills to one day tackle something like ruzee wink
smashingred thank you for the effort you went to as well, really appreciate it.
