I needed to be able to use TV captions longer than the allowed 80 characters.
I have done this by using phpMyAdmin to edit the structure of the site_tmplvars - Caption - Length/Values from 80 to 120
Does anyone know if this is a bad idea that will come back and cause me problems later?!
If you edited the field length directly on the structure tab of PhpMyAdmin it might have been safer to do this on the SQL tab:
ALTER TABLE site_tmplvars MODIFY caption VARCHAR(120);
I'm not sure it makes any difference.
The only consequence I can think of is the potential for messing up the display on the TV tab slightly in the Manager.
Thanks Bob. I will try this tomorrow. I would rather use descriptions than tinker with caption lengths. I will remove my long captions before changing the field length back to 80.
