Hi Folks
I'm in the throes of cloning a site that has an Articles-based blog attached.
However the cloned site is to be without an Articles-based blog.
And as is scantily documented, it appears Articles is next to impossible to clear out.
However after reading this limited opinion on the subject, I've not really gained anything concrete or authoritative.
Would anyone have a reasonably step-by-step checklist that I could follow to achieve this?
Or perhaps guide me to some literature I've not yet found.
Many Thanks
My setup:
MODX latest (2.5.6)
MAMP (latest (3.0.7.3))
PHP (5.5.26)
MySQL (5.5.38)
Chrome: Std and Canary (latest versions allowable by OS)
Mac OX (Mountain Lion-10.8.5).
I did it a long time ago and don't remember the steps. I do remember searching the DB for references to Quip and Archivist. Some were in the modx_transport_packages directory. I did a similar search-and-destroy for files core/components/quip and core/components/archivist. I can't remember if TagLister was involved, but I suspect that it was.
I would do this on the existing site before moving it (after backing it up).
When you think it's gone, try lots of operations and keep an eye on the error log.
Well Bob, I've followed your guidance and the clues from the error log and (fingers crossed) it all seems to be good.
Indeed TagLister was involved. It seemed just by uninstalling Quip and Archivist via the installer,
all traces of those components were cleared.
An error free error log at present but yes, will keep an eye out as I go.
Many thanks for your time
Greatly appreciated
I'm glad that worked for you.
Dear Bob, is there anywhere a clear step by step recipt for a clean deinstalling of articles?. Becaus of the hacker-attack I have to Update three articles based Websites from 2.2.16 to 2.6.5. Changing the resources to collections is not the problem. Articles is not removable :-(
@Erhard,
I answered you via email, but for others:
I don't know of a good source for that. I did it once, a long time ago, and IIRC, I had to search the DB for all the Articles components (Articles, Quip, Archivist, etc.). Your mistake may have been removing the sub-packages before removing Articles (or not).
