I'm new to Modx, making some tweaks to a client's site and manage to clear the cache in order to load latest stylesheet.

I've clicked on Clear Cache in the Manage dropdown but nothing happens.

I'm trying to make changes page by page, but this is causing a headache.

    Thanks

    Andrew
PS. I don't have ftp access.

What kind of changes are you making? Despite FTP access you should still be able to use the file manager tab to access and delete files.

The manager's clear cache however should work but if not then try putting a query at the end of the url. ie: http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=1?refresh

Change the id number for the id of the resource you're trying to force a refresh on.

I'm able to do everything except update the main css file. I will try wat you are asking.

You mean for me to add that that in the page template and then add the query to the css file name?

Whoever built the site didn't include a separate header file for managing scripts. Not sure if that is how Modx is meant to be but I think I'm going to have to update a dozen files to do that!

if you add a query to the css file that'll force the css to update but if you're not making changes to then then its pointless adding it there - add it to your address bar in your browser.

MODX is designed really so that you can set it up however you want so there's no particular right or wrong way. However, I think the more common approach, for me atleast, is to create a chunk called $headerHTML and throw in your head markup there and likewise for the footer.

Also, if that doesn't work there is an extra developed by BobRay called 'CacheClear' which you can download and that'll ensure all cache files on the FTP will also be cleared.
