SEO Tab migration to 2.0

    Hi All,

    Does anyone have a process for migration from SEOtab 1.* to 2.0?
    In the docs:
    https://modx.com/extras/package/seotab

    it says:
    Upgrading to 2.0.0 from 1.* is highly recommended, but it does introduce some risks. SEO Tab 1.* stored the 301 redirects into the properties-column of a resource. SEO Tab 2 stores it in a separate database table. This means a migration is needed. The migration-process is memory-intensive and might take a very long time, so just let it roll until it mentions a finished migration.

    But it doesn't really explain what the process is. There is no update available in my Modx extras, so i assume it's treated as a completely new Extra.

      It looks like it implies that simply updating the extra will also do the migration process? Was that not the case? Don't forget to back up first.

        There is no option to update it - it says it's up to date (but on V1.2)

          Are you able to download SEO tab (v2) from the extras still?

            Yes, it's available to download - it's as if it's a totally different Extra?

              Not sure - Id suggest do a backup and download/install it and see if it gives you a migration option? Maybe setup a cloned dev site if its a live production site first though. Just be sure to backup so that if anything goes wrong you can revert though.

                  Hi Andy,

                  SeoTab 2 includes a migration manager page which basically converts all your seotab 1.x redirects to the new-style 2.x redirects. And it's still the same package name / namespace so it's kinda weird your MODX installer doesn't see it as an upgrade. Maybe you manually installed your current version from the transport zip file? Anyway it's perfectly safe to install version 2, it will just replace your v1 with all your data intact and, after accessing the migration manager page, your redirects will be there as well. But I would advise to make a backup first, just in case smiley.
