Hi, I’ve noticed Wayfinder but not sure if it’s what I need.

I’ll be setting up loads of different web pages and don’t fancy adding a link to each seperately. I’m not using the default MODx template but my own. is there a way to add a link automatically to the nav bar each time a new page is created?

That being said.. I don’t have a "nav bar" yet. Would this be added with a chunk or TV?

    All the best,

    Louis (complete noob)

Wayfinder’s your best friend in this case. It will add menu links automatically, is highly customisable and not very hard to use, IMO. You can have multiple menus on the same page if you want

As in with other modx stuff....there’s flexibility in where you can put your "nav bar" (Wayfinder call). You can add it to your template directly, esp if you want all documents using that template to have that menu, you can add it to a chunk and call the chunk in the document where you want the menu to appear

Give it a try...you’ll love it...

For starters, try just putting the following in your template where you want the menu to appear:

        [!Wayfinder? &startId=`0`!]

It will make a menu using the menu title field of all your published documents.

Then modify it to meet your needs. Wayfinder will create just about any kind of menu you want, but it will probably take a while to get it the way you want it -- the first one is the hardest. wink
