I'm trying to upgrade an old site from 2.2.2 to 2.3.0. The upgrade completed with no issues, but there's no resource tree and the menu items are not working.

I've turned off css compress and js compress, manually cleared the cache, deleted cookies, logged in using an incognito window and with different browsers. I'm not seeing any permissions issues. I reran the setup and received no warnings or error. I've confirmed the file exists, I can open and read it, it doesn't appear to be corrupted. The hosting is Godaddy (I know...) running php 5.3.

Using Chrome developer tools, I'm seeing this error on the Network panel.
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined
        at MODx.tree.Resource._formatToolbar (modx.tree.js:657)
        at MODx.tree.Resource.success (modx.tree.js:112)
        at Ext.data.Connection.handleResponse (ext-all.js:21)
        at f (ext-base.js:21)
        at m (ext-base.js:21)
        at ext-base.js:21

I'm stuck. Any ideas for me?

        Only one line:

[2017-03-04 17:48:02] (ERROR @ /index.php) You must provide an email address to send to.

I don't see how that could affect the tree. Is the date after the update?

Did you do any reorganizing of the resource tree recently? The problem may not be due to the upgrade. When you drag things around in the tree, MODX can get confused about the parentage (e.g., a resource can be its own parent, or two resources can be each other's parents). That will break rendering the tree.

You could try SiteCheck on it if you have it.

Do you have any plugins that could be messing with things? If so, try disabling them.

It's the same day, after the upgrade. It does seem unrelated.

I have not made any changes to the site or the resource tree.

I can install site check outside of the modx manager right? Is it compatible with 2.2.2?

Yes, though it's not a convenient. It should be compatible with 2.2.2. I'd suggest using it to check just resources at first.
