Several clients are requesting images to be autoresized after uploading in the Gallery addon. I tried several addons (ImageSlim and AutoResizeOnUpload), but they only resize images that are used directly on a page (filter) or uploaded directly through the file manager. It seems Gallery bypasses these addons.
Is there a way to downsize images used in the gallery? My clients upload huge images and are not Photoshop savvy.

I haven't actually used the Gallery plugin I tend to use ModMore paid gallery personally. However I imagine that you'll just need to modify the output chunk to resize the images using pthumb ?
I am not a developer, I'm a frontend designer. I don't know how to 'modify the output chunk'.
Does the MoreGallery addon resize the images? It doesn't say on the modmore site.

I think this is what you want.
https://docs.modx.com/extras/revo/gallery/gallery.setting-up-the-galleryitem-tv. If your gallery is already functional, you probably already have a Gallery TV, in which case you'd just edit the values as shown in the docs. Note that this won't affect any existing images, only ones uploaded after the change.
Look at the "Template Variables" section on the "Elements" tab in the Manager. See if you can find a TV with the "Input Type" and "Output Type" set to galleryitem. The TV may be called something like "galleryItem," which would make it easy to find.
That looks promising, Bob! I will look into it. It would also solve my other problem: upside down images (shot with an iPhone).
Ok, nice tool, but it only edits an image placed with a tv on a page. (And the tv is on a fixed position in the page to place that image which does not make it flexible to use).
It does not edit images in the gallery. It edits images FROM the gallery to use as stand alone images in a page.

MoreGallery will automatically rotate images that need rotation on upload, you can define crops that are created automatically too but which are also manually editable, and it uses the media sources so upload plugins will also work.
Sounds to me like it ticks your boxes
