I have installed MODx onto my server/web site. I have made 3 documents and published them. Index, Tour, and Join. for the url titles, I entered index.html, tour.html, and join.html What does that do?
Also, I plan on adding a LOT of pictures to the site. How is MODx going to make this task easier for me?
I am understanding HOW to create a document. But I am not understanding how using a cms system is better...
Please help.

You do not heed to set url titles (not sure what this is). The document Title is simply the name of the document, this can be used in the document but is not related to the URL. If you are using SEO Friendly URLs (you need to activate this and configure it in the site settings, also you need to edit the .htaccess file manually) then you can use the Document Alias field to set a title to be used in the URL. If you do not have FURL setup you can access the document via /index.php?id=1 (where 1 is the document id).
MODx can make adding images easier by providing an interface for doing so. MODx is a flexible environment, and it allows you to determine the structure of your project. However, it requires that you (the developer) setup the structure. There are several ways to acomplish uploading and managing images, how you do it will be determined by the circumstances of your project and the way that you want to work (front end management or back end management, multiple managers, ..). There is a very powerfull and handy snippet for creating/managing image galleries called MaxiGallery that could help with this, depending on the objectives.
To get the most out of MODx you need to understand the use of Template Variables (TV). TVs are the ultimate tool for personalizing the content structure of your documents.
I recommend, if you have not done so already, to install the demo site on a local server and use it as a play ground and as a tool to see how it was built. This really helps to understand the way things work.
