    Hi there,

I’ve been thinking of a new site i want to do but I don’t know if modx is the right stuff for it..

I’ve done a couple of sites in modx so far but have only been having client who needs to edit the sites themselves... no user activity or anything like that..

Basically I wanna do a site similar to http://jobs.freelanceswitch.com (the job listing and user subscription part only - not blog, podcast etc.) ....same concept I just wanna do it in my own language for people in the country I live in...
What plugins snippets and whatnot should I look into? ...maybe someone could sketch a quick plan for the way I should put it together?

If you need more info please say so..

    Thank you very much!

WebLoginPE is designed to do exactly what you want, although it has some rough edges.

You could also do it with Ditto, eForm and eForm2DB

Or you could use a modified version of NewsPublisher and let the users edit their pages through the manager.

If it were me, I think I’d try to make WLPE do it all (though I’ve never used WLPE on a live site). People currently using WLPE can probably give you better advice.

I would use a dedicated job posting application. JobberBase is a very good option. I have been looking into using it for a project I am working on. The community is very somewhat helpful so don’t forget to check out the forums for some ideas.

You know what.... It actually could look like the site I was referring to actually uses the same system.

Thank you very much and thanks for the fast replies..

Hmm.. I’ve installed it now but found out the community offers close to no support other than "try to hire a php-coder.. he will be able to help you".

There is no user-login feature by default which is a critical need.. And I seriously don’t know how to go about that.. Any chance you could lead me in a direction dev_cw?

Unfortunately I do not have the time to get too deep into it at the moment. However the code is very simple (besides the smarty templating) and most of the critical job related fuctions are in the class.Job.php in the _includes folder. I have 0 experience with payment processing so i don’t know exactly how to do this but I think that you would need to edit the publish tpls in the _templates folder and the create() function in the class.Jog file.

I thought their forum was more active, sorry. But the code is very well documented and actually pretty simple. If I knew how the payment processing worked I am sure I could work it in.
