Does anyone have experience with Google Cloud or similar? I've been using Bluehost for a couple of years and just moved to google cloud platform. When I try and rename or delete files ht.access to .htaccess, I am getting the error "The webserver does not have the necessary permissions to remove the file.", No save button is present either. Does anyone know how I can make these changes in manager?
I also could not add files to the filesystem (i.e. a css file).
Hi, how are you trying to access the files? SSH, FTP? You can try changing the permissions on the files manually but if you're unable to you'll need to talk to the hosting provider.
Google Cloud provides an ip and a web based manager login. I will reach out to them.
It's not necessary to rename it. You just need a new file called .htaccess with the same content. If you can create .htaccess, you can paste the code from ht.access into it.
If you have FTP or upload (cPanel, etc.), you can also just download ht.access, edit it, and upload .htaccess. You should also be able to edit it on the Files tab in the Manager.
