MODX cannot create database

Hi

I am trying to use MODX on the Siteground hosting platform. I have installed it manually and when I go through the install process and get to the "Create or test selection of your database" link I get this message:

"Checking database: MODX could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again."

Siteground support can't work out what is wrong. Can anyone give me some suggestions to pass to them. I have set my own table prefix rather than using MODX - would this cause problems.

Notice this part of the message:

"Please manually create your database and then try again."

What happened to you is fairly common. In fact when installing a site at a new host, I always create the MODX database first.

Thanks Bob. I had actually set the database up first, which is what confused the guys at the hosting company. I had to do a re-install and this time it worked.
