    Hello everyone!

    Introduction:
    First of all, I hope I posted this thread in the correct section (sorry if not..). I run a website for over 3 years now but I never used a CMS before (just plain HTML/CSS/JS files and directory hierarchy). It took me a while to figure out which CMS I want to use and decided to use MODX due to its promissed flexibility of configuration. After working with MODX for a week now I stumbled over a few questions and I would be very glad if someone could help me out.

    General Info:
    Server type: Apache
    PHP version: 7.0
    Database: MySQL 5.5
    MODX version: Revolution 2.5.2-pl (no plugins/snippets running)

    Problem Description:
    Basically, I want to have a similar directory hierarchy as the default webserver. Including friendly URLs without displaying the "index.php" and general ".php" file extensions. I tried to set up contexts to seperate the individual nodes but I failed to make it work.

    Wanted Hierarchy:
    > Home (default index)
    > About
    --> Page1
    --> Page2
    --> Page3
    > Blog
    --> Article1
    --> Article2
    --> Article3
    etc.
    Each of the main nodes (Home, About, Blog,...) should have a page as well.

    URL syntax:
    All the pages should be reachable following this syntax:
    Home: http://website.com
    About: http://website.com/about
    About/Page1: http://website.com/about/page1
    Blog: http://website.com/blog
    Blog/Article1: http://website.com/blog/16/11/24/title-of-the-article OR http://website.com/blog/161124-title-of-the-article

    Current .htaccess file content
    ...
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    # www to non-www
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]
    # hide index.php
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
    ....

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    Aeon

      I'm not sure if this answers all your question, but the usual way of having such a hierarchy is to put the pages (resources) in that structure in the Resources tree at the left of the MODX Manager, then use the Wayfinder extra to display the menu.

      Turn on the friendly_urls and use_alias_path System Settings.
