    Hi everyone

to make a long story short: I am on 2.5.1 (recently upgraded from 2.5.0) and can't make a user group see only selected resources.

I have a website with user groups for my frontend. Depending on their status, once logged in the users can access different pages. All works well.

For my backend I tried to have a user group that has only access to a certain number of resources defined in the corresponding resource group. Nothing seems to work. I tried creating resource group and user groups together via the new resource group dialogue; creating it independently, then linking it; I tried setting up an extra manager context; tried to have one resource group with AllDocs next to the Editors Docs; tried anything obvious looking in the Content Editor policies.

When I update my user group in the sense that they have no context nothing shows up after they try to log in. That's okay.
When I give them access to the manager context, they can log in to the manager but don't see anything below the resource tab.
When I add the web context after logging in they can see all resources.
Any changes I try on the resource group access tab doesn't seem to have any effect: no resource group, Editor's group, AllDocs group.

Basically all I want is to have a user with access to the backend who can edit certain assigned pages and not see or do anything else. I have read the documentation, read Bob's guides on user groups, permissions etc., read across the forum, still nothing. Is there someone who could give me just a simple step to step manual on how to achieve this?

Thanks a lot in advance ...

Okay, one new attempt finally made it possible:
Create resource group and user group "Editor", but don't assign any resources. Instead assign all resources you don't want the Editor to see to a new resource group "Admin". In ACL assign in tab Resource Group "Editor". This way the Editor can see all the resources that are not hidden from him via the Admin resource group.

(Strange as for frontend it's just the other way around?)

It should work the same in the front end.
