    Hi

    A client of mine wants to run two concurrent versions of a modx site one for testing the other live.

    I am looking for advice on what would be best practice to achieve this.

    Some notes;
    The client does not really want to have web admin copy databases and move files -they want to be able to keep it in the marketing department.
    I wondered if this could be achieved with contexts, but I am unsure what this feature really does. As the description seems to say it does everything.
    This could also be achieved with user permissions, but I assume that their changes may be more site wide.

    Many thanks

    Jake

      I don't think there's a good solution. I wouldn't use Contexts or Permissions for this. If it's only the Resources you care about, you can make them static resources and just FTP the files across, but TBH, when I do this, I just cut-and-paste the content from the test site to the production site with Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c, and Ctrl-v.
