MODx noob here. I’ve managed to get my site up, even implemented my own snippets for a forum I converted from a .NET app. All of it works great. Now I’m trying to come up with a way to associate a thumbnail with a document that will appear in a dynamic list on my main page. I know WayFinder is suppose to do this for the docs but I can’t figure out a way to tell it to use /assets/images/mythumbnail.jpg .

Before I try to modify the manager code to allow this, is there a way already in place?

      Hey corb,

I think you’d be better off using ditto for this. And here’s how:

      1. Create an image TV called ’page-thumb’
      2. In each document, choose your image for the page
      3. Create a chunk for your ditto tpl called ’image-menu’
      4. For your ditto tpl, put something like this:
      <a href=[~[+id+]~] title=[+pagetitle+]><img src="[(site_url)][+page-thumb+]" /> [+pagetitle+]</a>

[~[+id+]~] - creates the link to that page
[+pagetitle+] - is the page title
[+page-thumb+] - is the value of the image you created.
[(site_url)] - is the http://.... of your site (I add it just to be safe)

Ditto just aggregates documents. The simplest call just includes `parents` and `tpl` like:
      [[Ditto? &parents=`0` &tpl=`image-menu`]]

One other thing to remember, when creating your ditto template chunks, all tvs use [+pagetitle+] syntax instead of [*pagetitle*]

Once I get my site done, I’ll see if I can put them in a more general use format. It’s really basic but does the job done. I had a forum I wrote in C# but got tired of dealing with clunky .NET assemblies (and ASP.NET servers) so I found something better.
