    Hello!
I've encountered a strange issue with my site preventing system settings cache to be created successfully. Every week my site goes down and while error.log shows me that everything is alright (it shows no errors at all), server error log shows these lines repeatedly:
PHP Warning: array_merge(): Argument #2 is not an array in /core/model/modx/modx.class.php on line 2514
PHP Fatal error: Class 'modContext_' not found in /core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php on line 783

The first time I thought it was a caching problem. And yes, clearing the cache solved the issue - but just for a week. The second time after diving into cache folder I've discovered that there's a problem with the config.cache.php located in the cache/system_settings folder, it was zero sized. Then I tried to reinstall the MODX, but it didn't help at all - the site still goes down once a week regularly.

Site is running MODX Revo 2.5.1. Web server has Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu), PHP 5.5.9 and MySQL 5.6.31 on it.

I wonder what can break system_settings cache this way? An unstable plugin? Or what? I'd appreciate any thoughts! [ed. note: vallev last edited this post 10 years ago.]
      Kind regards

Are the other cache directories empty as well? The resource cache directory should contain the content of recently visited resources, for example.

Be sure you have the compress_js and compress_css System Settings turned off.
