Hi, this is my first post and alas it’s a question smiley

In regards to the title check here: Best CMS for SEO

I have uploaded the files to my root and called the install URL which leads me to the setup. New Installation> Then I get stuck, I test my server which appears "passed - collations now available" but I can’t figure out the other settings?

I’ve tried setting up a new database and using those settings but it still comes up with "failed - could not create database"?

Your help would be very much appreciated MODx as I’m not very clued when it comes to databases.

Congratulations on winning the YOEBO.com best CMS for SEO award.

    Louis

P.S. I’m with Hostgator using Apache with all the feature enabled to make MODx work.

Have you already set up a database to connect to in the control panel for your hosting?

also make sure your connecting to the right area, sometimes localhost isnt the right host.

If you’re able to connect with the database, but not able to create a new database, that means the database user doesn’t have "create database" permission. You’ll need to go create the database with whatever client you use, or use one that’s already been created.

Just make sure the database is empty that you create, its a good idea to leave the table name prefix as modx too.

the modx install will do the rest of the table build and population.

            most of all good luck
