    Hi all,

Disclaimer: I am only a content editor on the site I am asking about, and don't have any technical knowledge!

I have been asked whether it's possible to export the news items on the website I'm working on as an XML file. I have no idea if this is the case, and wondered if anyone could advise? For reference the news feed is here: http://www.bristoltemplequarter.com/news/news/.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Only way I know off hand is to use phpmyadmin and go to the modx_site_content table and export as XML on the resources you want to export. Someone else may be able to offer a better method though smiley

The greatest compliment you can give back to us, is to spend a few seconds leaving a rating at our trustpilot: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/alienbuild.uk about the service we provided. We always drop mention of services offered by businesses we've worked with in the past to those of interest.

Thanks for the response. How would I do what you suggest? I'm unfamiliar with phpmyadmin sad

Generally you log into your hosting control panel where you would have access to phpmyadmin. Just open it up and select the table I said above ^. You may need to navigate in a few pages to get to it and then you can select the resources to export and click export. There will be a dropdown thereafter where you can select XML.

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately I don't have access to the hosting control panel. Ah well!

I think there's an extra for MODX called dbadmin where you can export the .sql file - you could then setup xampp/phpmyadmin on your local and import the database to export it as an xml.. im sure someone probably knows a better/faster way though!

I think you're looking for an output like this:

                https://forums.modx.com/thread/recent.xml

If so you'll have to find an extra for revolution which creates an rss feed from your news items.

You can use gerResources or pdoResources to generate the xml, the below example is for a getResources google sitemap but you can just change the sections you need in the tpl

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately these suggestions are above my ability level, but I appreciate the effort!
