I was getting ready to update a MODx 2.212pl site — and had read somewhere to make sure all Extras are up to date. So I updated to the latest version of Formit and TinyMCE, which are supposed to be compatible with MODx 2.2.x. Historically, my web forms on this site have always functioned, and I've never had any issues. No errors in the error log either.
After the update — my form would not longer send the email. In the process of troubleshooting, I noticed the TinyMCE text areas in the manager contained no content or tools. However, the site pages on the front end display all of the content, I just cannot see or even enter text into the text areas in the manager. Unchecking rich text allows me to type in the content area, but any formatted text that was previously in the area is not visible for me to edit.
So—I'm a bit delayed on doing the MODx update, and have temporarily pulled my forms down until I can either update MODx or resolve whatever conflict is occurring. It is possible that this is entirely a mail server issue and my TinyMCE problems are just icing on the cake. On submit, the form returns the response page, so that has to be somewhat of a good sign.
If I uninstall TinyMCE, and try loading an older version — will I look all of the content? And or, will I have to reapply all formatting?

Hey Paul. Thanks for the tip. I loaded it up and the email came right away.
I'm not sure if it's the case, but I think my google admin email account — the desired receipient of the form emails — is blocking the form email.
I switched the TO address to a mobile me.com account, and received the submitted form contents instantly.
My money is that google is blocking. Not sure why now though, and not last week or the month before.
Also makes me wonder if my hosting companies server has been blacklisted, but that would mean that I would not have received an email using Bob's snippet.

Good idea. But if the server IP was blacklisted, I would then not receive the email from Bob's snippet—even though it has a to and from, it's still coming from the website server's mail server.
My latest test was to send the form to my me.com account, with the original TO and FROM I have always used in the form. YES. I received a form email
I need to map out the scenario and refine what works and what doesn't and then come back with a more sensical outline of the problem.
