My FormIt forms stopped working on a 2.2.12pl site.

I updated Formit, as well as TinyMCE on a 2.2.12 site, and now my form will not send. I removed the form, and wanted to type a "temporarily down" message only to realize that TinyMCE is not working. Turning off rich text on all my form pages helped. All of my other pages have the content intact, but now I cannot see that text content in the manager.

So — what's the best plan. Try to do a MODx update? Or is there a way for me to back down the Formit and TinyMCE version?
If I do uninstall TinyMCE — do I lose all of the content? And formatting?

Would the version of PHP on the server affect whether or not these latest versions of Formit and TinyMCE would function?
Formit is 2.2.10 & TinyMCE is 4.3.4 — both are stated to work on 2.2.x

Uninstalling TinyMCE will not affect your content or formatting. As for Formit not working, you should try reverting back to the version prior to upgrading and see if that helps.

FYI these days people are using TinyMCEWrapper and TinyMCE RTE. They're actively maintained.

I use Redactor. Works perfect. Loaded it one one site, loved it, and have never looked back.

Updating to the latest FormIt and TinyMCE may have caused hiccups, but this is not the first time I have experienced issues with this host. Support did not know what SSH was. While they were checking, I found my old SSH login, logged in, zipped the server, and downloaded a backup. When they returned to the phone — I was told that SSH was not available on my server.

Needless to say — migrating the site now.

Now I'm in a pickle. Have to make edits to the existing site, until I can get it migrated and updated. I did the uninstall of TinyMCE that is supposed to leave the previous version — but it doesn't. I loaded TinyMCEWrapper but perhaps it's not as easy as a load.

Now my resources won't load in the manager — instead an error is returned. I fear that by using the package manager, I am attempting to install versions that are too new for 2.2.12

I was hoping I could uninstall TinyMCE, then install an alternate package and have it automatically take over as the text editor and allow me to resume making edits to page content.

Are older versions of TinyMCE available somewhere for me to perhaps do a manual install.

Search for your required extra on https://modx.com/extras/ click on the title and then the prev versions tab

Thanks Paul — I re installed TinyMCE, deleted the core cache, and now I can at least see text and make edits — there are no rich text editor features, but at least I can edit the content. This patches the hole in my boat for now.

Please do a fuller pattern diagnosis, and report concrete errors, so we can imagine, from here, what is going on in your environment

In did load, but did not appear to take over the role of being the default text editor. Perhaps there are more steps involved, but I'm in damage control mode and had to just get some updated words on a webpage.

What's going on in my environment? A mess I tell you. A big mess. I am reaping the benefits of deferred site maintainence. All is soon to be resolved, and then I will circle back around to give TinymceWrapper a try after the migration is completed.

Just a brief recap. The email address that my forms were TO, used to be a domain hosted with the same web hosting service. I had moved that site and email to another provider last month. I suspect that because that domain name was still in their system, the form emails were getting trapped within their system.

FormIt was not the problem. TinyMCE did indeed have major problems all cured by a successful migration to another hosting company and long overdue MODx update.
