Problems in creating sidebar

Hi,
I'm working in MODX for first time. I am changing a wordpress site completely to MODX cms. Clients condition is to get the perfect design as they had in wordpress site. So when working i found a problem with "latest news" section of sidebar. I done with getResources package inside the sidebar chunk and displayed widget correctly in latest news page. But not displaying widget in other pages with sidebar.
Should I make sidebar a template!!! or any other methods..

            <ul class="demo1">


		[[!getResources? &tpl=`latestNewsWidgetTpl` &includeContent=`1` &includeTVs=`1` &processTVs=`1`]]

What is the good way of doing this.

you have to indicate to which parent refers,
if missing gets id of the current page

[[!getResources? &tpl=`latestNewsWidgetTpl` &includeContent=`1` &includeTVs=`1` &processTVs=`1` &parents=`1`]]
