Answered Does MODX need both GD and Imagemagick?

    Hi i'm looking for proper hosting for a modx site. I found Transip.nl but the only seem to offer GD. The modx requirements state you need both (https://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/getting-started/server-requirements)
    Can a fully functional MODX site be hosted on a server with only GD? or won't there be thumbnails (for what??)

      Hi Ralph,

      no, MODX needs only one of them. If the server does not have Imagemagick installed, MODX will fall back to GD. GD is just a bit less performant but can handle all task pretty well.

      Thumbnails could be needed when you are working with the filemanager in the backend. So you dont need to download the whole image as a preview image.
