Hi people,
I was wondering if I can use MODxCMS in a legal registered company for free while leaving the copyrights intact.
I build some sites for free for friends with this system and I like it a lot but now I know someone who wants a serious looking website (which I can make for free for him) with this system.
Now is my question, is it legal to built modx in, without touching the copyright and without paying for it.
If not it’s all fine by me, then I will just code his site xHTML and leave him with the option to use modx later, which is deffinatly worth the money
Cheers,
mDesign

Use it for whatever you want. Hack it, slice, dice, fold, spindle and mutilate. Enjoy!

It always starts there...
@ Susan,
Off-topic:
What happened to your site? I spotted links to templates from this topic
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,7679.0.html to your website. I wanted to use them, though I found everything I was looking for out myself but your templates could be usefull after reading through the sourcecode

I got a new server, and let the loripsum.co.uk lapse since it’s managed by somebody in the UK that I can’t get ahold of any more, and it’s such a pain to try to get control of a uk domain from nominet. I’ve started moving templates over to
http://sottwell.com/templates.html, but I’ve been lazy and don’t have very many of them moved yet. Most of them are in the Repository, though. Just use the Tag Cloud link and look for "Templates", you’ll find lots of them.
Fair enough

If you feel really generous (or a client has been unusually generous) there’s always the Donations link. I don’t do much site development any more, but occasionally I’ll take on a small freelance job in exchange for a suitable donation. Whatever I can do to help keep the servers running; just wish I could do more.

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this CMS app. Having such a powerful tool available for my business at no cost is really a life saver.
Thanks ModX Team!
Yes, as sottwell says, donations are always welcome. If you’re feeling really generous, you could always give me some advice about the site in my sig. I’m hopless on SEO issues (and have no spare time to learn) and the site has never actually come close to supporting itself.
